Mentoring not Mothering (part 2)

line

Saeeda AhmedMentoring a number of individuals representing many different route ways to the sector (including volunteers, undergraduates, private business owners and post graduates) recently left me with an interesting dilemma that I have been thinking about. Individuals with social ideas are being pushed into ‘social enterprise’ as a way of getting funding even though they do not understand the implications of joining the sector is about income generation not funding. This particularly seems to b...

Mentoring not Mothering (part 1)

line

Saeeda AhmedI am a mentor to a number of students and its been a real learning opportunity for both the mentee and the mentor. I think the relationship between the mentor and mentee is very important and is a very personal relationship as well as a professional one. And in Urdu it's ' Aaj Mubarak din hai uss karoobar ko Jo awaam kih faidi kay liyay chaltay hai...

Excited about Downing Street Trip

line

Saeeda AhmedI can't wait. I haven't been able to sleep at all so I have massive bags under my eyes. It does say on invite information that big bags should be avoided but I wonder if that also refers to eye bags? It will be great to meet all the great and the good of the Social Enterprise Sector there. The invite said lounge suit but I don't quite understand what that means from my cultural perspective.... At home I wear my happy cow pyjamas in the lounge....surely I couldn't meet the Prime Minister in my mo...
